Forbes declares Vladimir Putin the most powerful person in the world. More anti-Russian Propaganda?

Last week, Forbes declared Russian President Vladimir Putin the most powerful person in the world.

Forbes, the company that used to boost a large business following audience has been in decline for years now. Here is a major reason I do not follow them anymore. They straight up post propaganda. Between the lies and the horrible welcome page you encounter when you go to their website, it is no mystery why the company is in decline.

So my question is how is Putin, the man who has lost Ukraine, Libya, and now most of Syria the most power person in the world, while U.S. president Barack Obama who has toppled Gaddafi, moved Ukraine out of Russian influence and is in the process of destroying Syria ranked number 2? Is Forbes printing anti-Russian material?

Here is why Forbes declared him number one in the world:

We took some heat last year when we named the Russian President as the most powerful man in the world, but after a year when Putin annexed Crimea, staged a proxy war in the Ukraine and inked a deal to build a more than $70 billion gas pipeline with China (the planet’s largest construction project) our choice simply seems prescient. Russia looks more and more like an energy-rich, nuclear-tipped rogue state with an undisputed, unpredictable and unaccountable head unconstrained by world opinion in pursuit of its goals.

He did NOT annex Crimea, he recovered it. Most people forget that all of Ukraine was a proxy state of the Russian government following the collapse of the USSR. Then what seemed like it happened overnight, a coup overthrew the government of Ukraine putting in power a pro-west president and government. The Baltic states are already in NATO and Turkey to the south. Ukraine provided a nice buffer state between the Russia and Nato countries. Now that gap is closed.

When Germany invaded Russia in June 1941, they had to cross Poland, Ukraine, Belarus, and the Baltic states to get into Russia. It was a very long journey, but German forces were at the gates of Leningrad and Moscow by winter that year. Now Russia no longer has those buffer states. Poland is a NATO county. Ukraine is now in western hands. NATO forces are only 300 miles from Moscow. So who is challenging who here?

Is Putin not on the retreat and trying to recover what is lost? Did not Ukraine just fall to the US?

There was once a time when Libya provided free health care to its citizens, had infrastructure, a stable but corrupt government, and had a net population immigration. Today it is a war zone and completely destroyed. Their population continues to flee the country. Libya was a ally of Russia and a enemy of the US. If you followed the events up to the NATO no fly zone intervention, Libya was doing nothing to threaten western countries. But Gaddafi made one mistake. It allied with Russia and not the US. Another one of Russia’s allies and large arms buyer is gone.

While this war is still raging, I do not see how the US will allow a Assad based government to stay in power. That is why this war is continuing. Syria has never threatened the US. As a matter of fact, their forces were helping us during the 1st Iraq war, and the CIA used Assad’s torture chambers for some off the books interrogation of Iraqis. John Kerry was even dining with Assad back in 2009.

But what changed since then? Assad, like Gaddafi made the same mistake. They allied themselves with Russia. Russia supplies Syria with all its heavy military equipment, has a naval port there and is highly interested in Syria remaining in its sphere of influence. If it falls, a gas and oil pipeline can be made that will travel to Europe. This will cut off Russian energy supplies to Europe, which is the last remaining power Russia has overs the area.

Forbes is not staffed by writers that do not know this. They know very well that Russia is on the retreat. But it is in the US government interests to make Russia look the bad man of the world. Barack Obama should be number one. He took over Ukraine in 2014, and started airstrikes in Syria without that countries permission. Putin recovered some lost territory in Ukraine 2014.
